Hitsounds are an important part of Team Fortress 2. A hitsound is audio feedback played to you through the game to let you know that you've damaged an enemy. They're also fully customizable, and you can have different sounds for hits and kills.
hit.tf is a small, simple hub for custom TF2 hitsounds and killsounds, created by omnibombulator of huds.tf. Download other users hitsounds, or upload your own for others to use. It couldn't be any simpler.
This site uses Advertisements to help cover server costs. However, you won't be punished for disabling them with browser extensions. I don't blame you.
Step 1: Go to your Steam Library, find Team Fortress 2, Right Click it and select Properties. From the Properties menu, select the Local Files tab and click the Browse Local Files... button, which will open your file explorer.
Step 2: You should be inside the Team Fortress 2 folder. From here, go to tf\custom\hitsound\sound\ui. If you don't have a hitsound folder, feel free to create one. Remember to put a sound folder inside the hitsound folder, and a ui folder inside the sound folder!
Step 3: Get the hitsound you've downloaded from hit.tf and rename it to either hitsound.wav or killsound.wav (depending on if you want a hit or kill sound). This is everything you'll need to do with files.
Step 4: Open Team Fortress 2, and go to the Advanced Options. Here, you need to find "Play a hit sound every time you injure an enemy" and "Play a last hit sound when one of your attacks kills an enemy" and turn them on. You can also adjust the hitsound pitch and volume here too.
Step 5: Hop into a game and start doing some damage! If you hear the sound that you downloaded from hit.tf, then you've successfully installed your custom hitsound. Congratulations!
Terms and Conditions
If you're a member of hit.tf, then you have the priveledge of uploading your own hitsounds to the site! However, we do have an extremely small set of rules, and failure to comply to them may result in your hitsounds being deleted. In the worst case scenarios, failure to comply to our rules may result in your account being banned. Please follow them wisely.

Do not upload hitsounds with offensive content included within them. For example: Racism.
We highly discourage submissions that may include downloads and/or links to malicious websites, files or software. Any submissions with content of this nature will be deleted, and your hit.tf account will be permanently banned.
In addition to your submission being hosted on hit.tf, we retain the right to remove or modify your hitsounds as we see fit without prior warning or explanation.
